Valentine’s Day Notecard
I just took the Dari Challenge from my friends at Dari Studio. The challenge was to design a Valentine’s Day notecard design using their inspiration board. The fun thing about this challenge is seeing how everyone comes up with a totally different design using the same mood board. Thanks for the inspiration ladies. The notecards are 3×5.

Happy New Year 2013. It has been a while since my last post. I have had over 12 people staying at my house since Thanksgiving! Not all at the same time.
Now that things have settle just a little at home I am catching up on work and life.
My first post of 2013 is about what I am “currently” up to. I have seen a few bloggers share what they are “currently” doing. So I decided to join them in a similar post.
My new portfolio site via Squarespace. I am excited that my site will be mobile friendly. Meaning the web page resizes based on your browser.
Pure Barre workouts. The work out is a combo of dance, yoga and pilates. After the holiday gain of 4 lbs. it is time to loose some weight and tone up those abs! I bought a 30 day trial membership for $100. Lift, tone and burn. Can you say bikini body! I hope so. Tuck Tuck lift!
I would like to clean up the urban garden by my house, so that our son and his class can take a filed trip there. His school is 2 blocks from our house. I just watched a show on PBS, Independent Lens called “Soul Food Junkies” watch here and realized how so many American don’t have access to all the wonderful food we eat and see on a daily basis via recipe blogs. I want to change that by making our urban garden a place where our community can enjoy and sell what we grow. Disclaimer: I don’t have a green thumb. Wish me luck.
I am addicted to cookbooks! I most say “Smitten Kitchen Cookbook” is the best one I have read so far. I love Deb’s humor and recipes. Did I mention she takes her own pictures. She started out as a blogger and now has her own recipe book. She is a true inspiration. You can check out her recipe blog.
Yes! Mardi Gras is around the corner. I will be attending a Mardi Gras ball this year. I already bought my dress at a consignment shop. The dress is so cute I feel like a mermaid in it. I am now trying to figure out how to do my hair. Lets just say teasing will be involved! I have been obsessively watching tons of You Tube videos on how to create a “vintage beehive updo”.
Recently I had the opportunity to attend to my first Hindu wedding. At the wedding celebration they had a Henna tattoo artist. I was able to get a quick henna tattoo on my right arm. It took about 20 minutes to design and 2 hours to dry. The first 2 pictures are from the wedding. The top right one is my arm with henna drying on it. The henna tattoo examples below are from Pinterest.
Check out my board.
I am thinking about buying some henna cones (tattooing pens) and maybe have a henna party for the holidays.
Spanish Story Time
I am so happy to share with you my latest design branding project for the Algiers Public Library. I designed a new logo for their Spanish story time hour at the Hubbell Branch Library in Algiers Point.
I will also be volunteering as the first story time reader in Spanish. I was really excited to be able to brand their new reading program. I wanted the design to be fun and the colors to be warm and inviting. It was also important to keep the copy bilingual. The font is playful without being to elementary.
This project was quick and the colors are really fun! Enjoy.
If you would like to attend the Spanish story time here are the details.

This quote by Ghandi as well as creating collages in Photoshop is a way for me to deal with having a bad day or just being a little frustrated with life.
When life sometimes feels out of control I look inward and ask myself what can I do to change? How can I create a better life and world for myself and the ones I love? What do you do?
